Leo season is here and honestly? I am here for every single bit of it.
As someone with a Taurus Sun, Cancer Moon, and Cancer Rising, Leo season always feels like a beautiful nudge from the universe. My Cancer placements love nothing more than staying home, nurturing, and keeping things cozy and safe. But Leo reminds me that after we have tended our inner world, it is time to let our gifts be seen. To step into the light a little. To take up space without apologizing for it.
And just like every season, nature has given us the most perfectly aligned herbal friends to support that energy.
Here are the herbs I am reaching for this Leo season and why I love them:

Hawthorn (Crataegus spp.)
The herb of the heart
Leo governs the heart and hawthorn is, without question, one of the season's most important herbal allies. She has been treasured for centuries for her ability to support cardiovascular wellness while also nourishing the emotional heart in the most gentle and profound way.
I love that hawthorn holds both of those things at once. The physical and the emotional. Because real courage is not about never feeling fear. It is about loving anyway. Opening your heart anyway. Letting yourself be seen anyway.
A daily cup of hawthorn tea or a tincture feels like wrapping your heart in gentle protection while still allowing it to shine. That is very Leo energy to me.
Energetically, hawthorn helps open and strengthen the emotional heart, encourage healthy boundaries, support resilience during stress, and promote healthy circulation.

Rose (Rosa spp.)
Confidence through self-love
Most people think of rose as an herb of romance and she absolutely is. But, her greatest gift is something even more powerful than that. She teaches us unconditional love, including love for ourselves.
And that is such a Leo lesson. Because Leo teaches us that confidence does not come from being perfect. It comes from accepting ourselves fully, exactly as we are, and choosing to show up anyway.
Rose petals in a tea blend create this beautiful reminder that softness and strength are not opposites. They belong together.
Rose may help soothe emotional tension, lift the spirit, cool excess heat, and encourage compassion and joy.

Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis)
Calm the overheated mind
Leo's fiery energy is wonderful and inspiring and sometimes a little too much all at once. The excitement, the ambition, the desire to do everything and be everywhere. Sound familiar?
Lemon balm is my go to for exactly those moments. She gently cools that inner fire without extinguishing your passion. She supports the nervous system, eases occasional stress, and encourages a joyful outlook that feels sustainable rather than burned out.
She is one of my absolute favorite herbs for anyone juggling work, family, creativity, and the deep desire to do it all at once. Which honestly sounds like most of us in Leo season.
Lemon balm supports the nervous system, eases occasional stress, and encourages a calm and joyful outlook.

Calendula (Calendula officinalis)
Solar healing
Bright golden calendula practically looks like little suns blooming in the garden and I think that is exactly the point. She is one of the most cheerful herbs I know and she brings that warmth into everything she touches.
Calendula supports healthy skin, lymphatic flow, and digestive wellness while carrying this energy of warmth and kindness that feels so perfectly aligned with Leo's generous spirit.
She reminds me that healing does not have to be harsh or heavy. It can be vibrant and gentle and beautiful all at the same time.
Calendula supports skin health, lymphatic flow, and digestive wellness.

Tulsi / Holy Basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum)
Sacred strength
Leo energy thrives when we feel centered rather than scattered. And tulsi is one of the most beautifully centering herbs I know.
As one of Ayurveda's premier adaptogenic herbs, tulsi helps the body respond to stress with more grace, supports mental clarity, and brings this grounded, balanced energy that makes everything feel more manageable.
Because here is the thing about Leo season... It is not asking you to burn yourself out trying to prove your worth. It is asking you to shine from a place of genuine strength and sustainability.
Tulsi supports a healthy stress response, mental clarity, immune resilience, and balanced energy.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)
Warmth and abundance
Few herbs capture Leo's radiant, abundant energy quite like cinnamon. She is warming and inspiring and she adds this comforting sweetness to everything she touches.
A pinch of cinnamon in your morning tea can become the simplest ritual for welcoming confidence into your day. I love her for that. Small acts of intention matter.
Cinnamon supports movement, motivation, and warmth.
A note for my highly sensitive souls...
If you are living with EDS, POTS, MCAS, or chronic illness, I see you in this season too. Leo's vibrant energy is beautiful but your body may need a gentler pace to enjoy it.
And I want you to know that Leo season does not require constant productivity or endless social events. Sometimes your greatest act of courage this season is resting without guilt. Saying no when your body needs it. Celebrating the small victories that nobody else might notice. Letting your light shine in quiet ways.
Your brightness is not measured by how much you accomplish. It is measured by the love, compassion, and authenticity you bring into the world. And that never requires you to push past what your body can hold.

A Leo season tea ritual
Blend together:
Hawthorn berries
Rose petals
Lemon balm
Calendula flowers
A small pinch of cinnamon
Steep for 10 to 15 minutes and enjoy while sitting with these questions:
Where am I hiding my gifts?
How can I lead with kindness?
What genuinely lights me up?
How can I celebrate myself without comparison?
Leo season reminds us that every single person carries a unique spark. We are not meant to dim our light to make others comfortable, and we are not meant to burn ourselves out trying to shine brighter than everyone else.
The healthiest flame is one that burns steadily.
Warming those around it while remaining completely rooted in its own strength.
May these herbs for leo season help you cultivate courage, protect your heart, nourish your nervous system, and celebrate the incredible light that already lives inside you.
With a cup of tea in hand,
